Dr. Lorenzo T. Wright, Sr., was born in Palatka, Florida on August 28, 1960. At an early age Dr. Lorenzo T. Wright always had a love for God and a hunger to preach the gospel. At the age of ten he was appointed as a junior deacon. In 1980, he married his high school sweetheart, Angela Wight. This wonderful marriage brought forth four children: Lorenzo Jr.,Jennifer, Lisa, and Christopher.
In 1992, Dr. Lorenzo T. Wright, Sr., answered his call to ministry in Corpus Christi, Texas. While serving in the United States Navy in Corpus Christi, he attended Macedonia Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ and began formal training in the ministry under Elder Robert Jones, Senior Pastor of Macedonia. He received Exhorter’s Papers from The Church our Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith, Inc.
Dedicated to his calling in the ministry and a desire to devote time to his family, Dr. Lorenzo T. Wright, Sr., retired from the US Navy after twelve years of service. In 1995 he moved his family back to his hometown of Palatka, Florida. Dr. Lorenzo T. Wright, Sr., visited numerous churches, but did not join any at the time. Seeking wisdom from God, he devoted much time to studying, fasting and praying at home until God led him to St. Augustine, Florida where he led Bible Study in a member’s home.
His compassion and strong vocal appeal to the hurting and unsaved allowed him to start doing Saturday afternoon “Street Services” ministering in an area known as The Village. Every Saturday afternoon Dr. Lorenzo T. Wright, Sr. would preach the Gospel giving hope to many single mothers and their children, performed one-on-one counseling with troubled youth and visited with the elderly shut-ins. Word spread quickly through the tiny community about this common, yet dynamic down-to-earth minister who was making a difference in the lives of people who had no hope or vision.
After witnessing one of his services, Holy Cross Church leaders invited Dr. Wright, and his family to join their congregation. At Holy Cross, Dr. Wright was commissioned as Priest, then later as Arch Bishop. He received his Doctor of Divinity degree in November 2000 at Living Hope Theological Seminary.
Fasting, praying and heeding to God’s direction he was led back to Palatka and co-founded a church with another local minister. This union led to Dr. Wright branching off to establish his own church which would become Rhema Healing and Deliverance Missionary, Inc.
Dr. Wright is very well traveled and has ministered in various states and is widely known for his community outreach ministry, with signs, wonders, and healings following. He is currently training and equipping his 17 member ministerial staff which includes Associate Pastors, Prophets, Evangelist, and Teachers to be just as effective in outreach because of His love for God’s people.
Dr. Lorenzo T. Wright, Sr., adamantly dedicated himself wholly and fully to the work of God because he is confident that “With God all things possible to him that believes.” ~Mark 9:23.
